The pictures below were taken late one evening in June '99 on West Anstey and Molland Commons, North Devon.

This lone individual was captured against a background of the Exe Vale with Dartmoor brooding on the horizon.

I was asked once if the ponies were approachable or I'd had to use a telephoto lens.
This family walked straight towards me when I got out of the car! All were taken with the standard lens.

These pictures were taken late one evening in June '98 on Winsford Hill, north of Dulverton, Somerset.

Stallion and Colt

There is a story to this shot. The stallion was happily scratching his nose on the little wooden sign when a colt, who apparently had an itch in a far more sensitive spot, slowly backed up until the top of the stallion's head made contact with the area in question. The photo shows the instant when the stallion realised what was going on. After this, the stallion said the equine equivalent of "'Ere, what's your game?" and chased the colt away.
